The People
Karen, mother, grandmother, nutrition scientist, passionate gardener, natural health seeker and self-taught environmentalist, is likely the motivational force behind Hare Family Farm and HARE HEMP Products. Having suffered from a life with asthma and eczema that was treated with harmful prescription medicines, at age 50 she found herself quite disillusioned with all skin care products on the market and with traditional medicine, agriculture and pharmaceuticals. Her skin had become thin and cracked from topical steroids and her health was failing. She knew she had to find a new way to live.
Diligently and painfully, Karen ridded herself of prescription inhalers and other pharmaceuticals. As a traditionally trained nutritionist/dietitian, it wasn't easy to stray from allopathic medicine, but the journey was intensely enlightening. A holistic lifestyle emerged; food became medicine; growing organic food and botanicals became mandatory; and her longing to connect with the earth broadened. It wasn't long before Hare Family Farm and HARE HEMP Products were born.
Bob, father and grandfather, is the co-founder of the farm and HARE HEMP. His pragmatic nature help organize the day to day tasks. As pragmatic as he is, he wholly believes that the farm and HARE HEMP restored his health. Having spent most of 45 years traveling extensively for work, he suffered from anxiety and sleep issues. Traditional medicine failed him; the side effects were nearly debilitating. With the help of plant medicine, holistic living and HARE HEMP CBG, he is blessed with restful sleep and great health.
The Farm
Hare Family Farm lies beneath the sandstone hogbacks of Carter Lake, Colorado; 37 acres of fertile land fed by Big Thompson water, perfect for organic farming. Our small family farm is 100% human-powered with a place-based commitment to the land. With a passion for the health of the earth and the preservation of the fragile terpenes and cannabinoids found in high CBG hemp plants, we avoid intensive fossil-fuel powered tilling and harvesting. At our farm we have created a small, local, fossil-free growing environment for this sacred plant; keeping things human-powered, hand-crafted, and close to the earth.
USDA Certified Organic
While our production is beyond capital 'O' Organic, including using biodynamic, regenerative and petroleum-free production, we also have taken the extra step of becoming certified USDA Organic. Our hand-crafted hemp products are clean and free, the way nature intended.
Real Organic
We believe strongly in the core values of organic, but are concerned that industrial powers are changing the definition. We embrace Real Organic as a solution. Real Organic strives to make sure crops are grown in soil, not hydroponics and animals are always treated humanely. We trust the Real Organic Seal and our farm is Real Organic Certified..
Build the Soil to Heal the Planet
A key solution to global warming and the climate crisis lies right under our feet. It starts with the soil. Did you know that organic farming using regenerative practices can actually sequester CO2 from the atmosphere into the soil? Research from the Rodale Institute demonstrates that if organic, regenerative agriculture was adopted globally, climate change could be reversed. In fact, analyses of data on soil sequestration has revealed that a global switch to regenerative crop and pasture systems could drawdown more than 100% annual CO2 emissions!
